Criteria for Assistant Professor:

Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Health Education/Promotion, Public Health, or related area. Preferred qualifications include university teaching experience, a history of publication and procurement of external funding, experience in research and evaluation design, graduate-level statistics, internet-based distance education, and electronic instructional technology. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated achievement in the field of public health/health education with evidence of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, scholarly publications and securing extramural funding, and earned CHES/MCHES.

Responsibilities:

Teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate health education courses, including online classes; guiding graduate student work on papers, theses, dissertations; involvement in research, scholarly publications, and service (departmental, university, and professional). Preferred teaching areas include, but are not limited to Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Community Health Education, Program Planning and Evaluation, Grant Writing, Research Methods, Ethnic and Cultural Health, Global Health and Health Informatics.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Texas Woman's University is a comprehensive public university, primarily for women, with an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. The University's main campus is in Denton, with other campus locations in Dallas and Houston. The Department of Health Studies, with nine full-time faculty, offers, the B.S., B.A.S., M.S., and PhD. Degrees in Health Studies. Approximately 300 undergraduate and 70 graduate students are currently enrolled in these programs. The curricula are designed to prepare graduates to function in a variety of health education and health promotion professional environments, including community, worksite, health care, public health, and academic setting.
