The Director of Student Learning leads a team of professional and student tutors and supplemental instructors to effectively support University College student learning and academic excellence. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing programs and services that support and assist students in becoming independent learners and that aids in their mastery of academic skills. The Director ensures accurate and responsive support to students.
Provide leadership, management, and vision to staff by planning, implementing, and evaluating services in alignment with the strategic initiatives of the University, specifically as it pertains to student learning and academic excellence. In collaboration with the staff, develop goals and measurable objectives related to improving student learning.
Ensure effective recruitment, selection, development, and evaluation of staff. Build and maintain a strong and stable team of professionals passionate about working with students and committed to the University’s mission, vision, and values.
Develop and implement assessment measures that provide trustworthy and useful information about services provided, students’ feedback about the services, and the results achieved. Analyze reports and student feedback to identify how the services being provided are helping students and opportunities for improving the services.
Expertise in supervising, motivating, managing, and leading staff. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to college-level teaching and learning.
Experience developing student learning outcomes and assessing tutoring programs, academic support programs, and/or Supplemental Instruction. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse students, faculty, and staff in ways that foster the spirit of community. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Experience in successfully reaching out to clients and prospective clients.
Superior negotiation, problem solving, and service skills.
Ability to use technology to analyze data, manage projects, and facilitate decision-making.
Ability to use all products in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Master level degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
A minimum of five years of experience in working in tutoring, instruction, or a related field.
8 Years of experience tutoring
8-10 years of university level teaching and developing student learning and assessing tutoring programs.
