Detailed Job Description
The Academic Advisor I is an entry level advising position. Under direct supervision, the Advisor I will be engaged in academic advising activities that support UA at the institution or college level.
Additional Department Summary:
The Online Services Coordinator manages the advising functions and student services for the College's online General Business Degree Program. The incumbent in this position serves as the AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) certification representative for the SACS accredited online degree program. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for assisting online students with the development of an academic plan, teaching a new student orientation and study skills course and coordinating recruitment for the program.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and some relevant experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, adult/continuing education or related field and two years of work experience in a student services environment, academic advising, counseling or teaching, preferably in higher education, OR a Master's degree in an unrelated field and three years or more of work experience in a student services environment, academic advising, counseling or teaching, preferably in higher education. All But Dissertation or Doctoral degree, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience in which comparable skills and abilities have been attained. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge:
Must be professionally active and current on best practices in advising and other programs promoting student success and retention. Must possess excellent abilities to work with and supervise others, must have understanding on the higher education environment, and must contribute significantly to the college and the University. Good oral and written communications skills, along with good organizational skills required. Requires basic knowledge in the usage of personal computers, including word processing. Ability to coordinate faculty/course development, as well as teach courses.
Preference will be given to those who have served as an academic advisor for at least three years and be thoroughly knowledgeable on college degree programs, degree requirements, record keeping, and the information systems that support academic student services.56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 29120.04 Midpoint - $ 40767.96
