Job Responsibilities

Assists with the development and implementation of college-wide Online Learning & Academic Technology initiatives

Manages daily operations in the Online Learning & Academic Technology department

Assists Associate Vice President with budget and assigned staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation

Oversees all aspects of Quality Matters

Fosters collaboration among disciplines, works with faculty, staff and administrators college-wide to achieve a shared vision for the College

Provides leadership to staff in the design, development, and delivery of technology-mediated learning

Conducts research, testing, and implementation of new and emerging technologies related to academic and instructional needs

Assists with grant opportunities relating to serving the needs of online learners

Oversees compliance with online learning accreditation standards and industry regulations related to online learning programs including state authorization and accessibility compliance

Proactively researches online compliance regulations and provides current authorization information on all states for online program authorization and facilitates the required approvals for state authorization and SARA

Supports online learning technical operations that impact operations and student success

Researches and stays current on contemporary issues relating to course development and quality assurance of technology-mediated and online learning, including copyright/intellectual property, online course design standards, and accessibility

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of six years of demonstrated significant operations, process, and project management experience in a role related to distance education

Demonstrated experience hiring, training, developing, scheduling, supervising and managing the work performance of others

Demonstrated experience and familiarity with Blackboard or other LMS

Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, maintaining, preparing and monitoring a business area’s budget

Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations


Possess comprehensive knowledge of online compliance, including state authorization and accessibility, and the ability to use in complex, difficult, and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Demonstrated experience as an instructional designer or course developer

Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

Demonstrated advanced project management skills

Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Access

Ability to facilitate work teams comprised of internal and external stakeholders

Works accurately with a strong attention to detail

Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under the stress of timelines

Ability to facilitate top-level collaboration while managing sensitive issues

Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to collaborate with both internal and external regulatory agencies

Ability to work across organizational lines and effectively with various disciplinary faculty, program faculty, program managers, and deans

Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications


Master’s Degree in educational technology, instructional technology, instructional design, or education

Doctoral degree in a related field

Demonstrated experience writing and securing grants

Demonstrated experience and familiarity with state authorization policies and procedures

Demonstrated experience in the implementation of innovative learning models

Demonstrated experience working in a higher education environment

Demonstrated experience with accreditation or accreditation review of programs, including eLearning programs

Demonstrated eLearning teaching experience at the college level

Leadership and participation in national groups in eLearning (Educause, WCET, OLC, etc.)

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of operation, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
