A post-doctoral position is available August 1st, 2016 in the Peixoto Laboratory at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University Spokane. The Peixoto Lab focuses on using genomic and computational biology approaches to study brain function. In particular to understand the underlying molecular basis of Autism Spectrum Disorders and their comorbidity with Intellectual Disability and Sleep Impairments. The lab uses mouse models for functional genomic studies of behavior and patient samples to study genetic contributions to disease.

The successful applicant will work with a team of investigators exploring interactions between experience, learning and sleep in the regulation of gene expression in mouse models of autism.

Required Qualifications

Minimal requirements for the position include a PhD in a related field with less than 3 years of prior postdoctoral experience. Familiarity with the use of R/Bioconductor to analyze high-throughput genomic data as well as proficiency in a scripting language is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in molecular biology as well as neuroscience. Specifically DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCRs and western-blots.
Enthusiastic, hard-working, team-oriented candidates with strong recommendations will be favored.

Monthly Salary

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
