Under direction of the Vice President and General Counsel, provides a broad range of legal services to the University community with a particular emphasis on health care transactional and regulatory practice.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

Knowledge of health law required with knowledge of higher education law preferred

Minimum Qualifications

J.D. degree supplemented with five (5) years of relevant legal experience. Licensed to practice in the state of Missouri. Preference will be given to those with a background in health law with higher education law experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provides legal counsel and representation in connection with a wide variety of higher education issues: areas of significant engagement may include, but are not limited to, health care transactions, contract review and interpretation, policy development, employment law, student affairs, and regulatory compliance.

Provides effective training and informational material to educate staff and faculty on appropriate legal requirements.

Conducts legal research and effectively drafts correspondence, legal documents, memoranda and other communications.

Engages effectively with colleagues within the Office of the General Counsel, University constituents, and opposing counsel; assists and supervises outside legal counsel when appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned.
