This faculty position teaches and develops curriculum for courses in Digital Media as the primary function including researching, testing, and integrating new technologies, methodologies, and systems into course materials. Participates in department functions and committees, engages with industry and associated events, collaborates regularly with faculty and staff.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Information Technology, or related discipline, terminal degree preferred.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in web development and development-related discipline(s).
Demonstrated commitment to teaching and previous educational participation preferred.
Experienced in web development processes and methodologies that employ source code versioning, Agile approaches, prototyping, build/test/deploy tools, and application delivery on multiple devices including mobile.
Experience working on a variety of websites and web application development projects.
Demonstrates a command of web application design/architecture with a mind for teaching students how to leverage the latest tools and techniques to simplify website and web application development.
Demonstrates insightful thinking, continuous exploration, and a knack for experimentation.
Understanding of source code control using Git and tools such as NPM, Gulp, and the command line.
Understanding of test-driven development, ReactJS, and the Express framework.
Expert practitioner of Web Application development principles and processes.
Possesses strong familiarity with Angular, Node, and NoSQL databases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be proficient with popular web development tools, libraries, and frameworks.
Requires a mastery of desktop and mobile platforms (Mac OS, Windows, iOS and Android) and connectivity services while integrating equipment into classrooms and development sandboxes.
Possesses an amicable character with the ability to be a self-starter and deliver on expectations.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, industry, staff and students.
Must possess an ability to learn and adapt rapidly to changes in the web development industry.
Applicants should be prepared to have a versatile portfolio in both digital and print to demonstrate their background and have those materials on hand at the personal interview stage.
