Detailed Job Description

FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION:  INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR: (Department of Computer Information Sciences, Division of Arts, Business, Communication & Technology) (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated Start Date: Sep. 2013 Tenure Track Position. Position contingent on available funding.

The CIS department is looking for a passionate educator that is committed to excellence in the classroom and can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners. Our department seeks a candidate with a desire to join our faculty, focused on student success. The candidate would be expected to participate in curriculum development and college service including grant development, program review, committee work, and academic advising.

Specific Duties:

  • Teaching various CIS courses including Operating Systems, Computer Security and Forensics, Web Development, and Networks would be desirable.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum development, assessment of learning outcomes, and curriculum review
  • Use course management and emerging technology tools and software in the classroom
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
  • Teach courses at one or more of the college’s locations and online
  • Actively participate as a faculty member in the general college community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • Bachelor’s degree with a commitment to seek Master’s degree
  • College level teaching experience in IT or related fields
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
  • A commitment to life-long learning and a willingness to adapt to the changing nature of information technology
  • The ability to integrate appropriate technology into teaching strategies

Preference will be given to someone who has demonstrated ability to teach Computer Science and IT courses including Operating Systems, Computer Security and Forensics, Web Development and Networks. Additional areas of expertise would be welcome. Master’s degree preferred. Bilingual/bicultural preferred.

Salary: Anticipated starting salary range is $41,470.00 - $65,000.00 per academic year; complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
