Detailed Job Description

The Physician Liaison Representative supports the practice by representing and promoting our clinical services, physicians and programs in order to increase referrals from existing providers and secure new business from current low volume and non-referring providers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, or Healthcare required; supplemented with three to five (3-5) years experience working with physicians/providers, medical practice office staff, or other medical specialties required; recent and direct experience working in a physician liaison program preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Implements tactics identified by supervisor to promote provider interaction and engagement including new provider orientation, site visits, staff meetings, social events, grand rounds, referral dinners, CMEs, etc.; conducts personal visits to referral sources and functions as the primary sales and marketing contact for referring physician offices; interfaces with both physicians and their staff to improve communication and understanding of the needs and wants of the referring practices; and develops meaningful relationships with key contacts within the referring offices.

Identifies referral sources (target audiences) for SLUCare departments, services or programs; facilitates meetings for the physicians with referral sources and coordinates opportunities to discuss SLUCare services and programs; facilitates community outreach, speaking and education opportunities for the practice; and tracks outcomes and uses data to demonstrate progress and ROI.

Documents daily contact with referring physician offices; completes mileage and other expense reporting; coordinates planning for networking events; and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or department director.
