Detailed Job Description

Under general direction, is responsible for the operations of post­award grant administration and related accounting duties, and serves as the appropriate principal investigator’s contact for grants and contract accounting functions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

The experience in restricted and fund accounting must be at an institution with at least $200 million in research funding; deep knowledge of 2 CFR 200; able to work some nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting or other analytical field, e.g. philosophy.
Experience: 24 months in restricted and fund accounting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Performs post­award grant ­related functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes and associated communications with customers, reconciliations, and rebudgeting.

Performs grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts Administration and sponsors including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations, zeroing out budgets, and final reporting; reviews general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and complete journal entries.

Assists with time and effort reporting system, ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations; maintains regular communications with department; communicates with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering

Supports the sponsored programs department in education and training of principal investigators and administrators.

Assesses needs and resolves issues of the principal investigator related to grants accounting; performs analysis and support for projects.

Other duties as assigned.
