Detailed Job Description

Under general direction; maintains an efficient and effective work environment for patient-centered care; coordinates the clinic’s daily functions by supervising staff and communicating with the physicians, other providers, and patients; organizes and orders the necessary equipment, immunizations and supplies for patient care; oversees patient flow providing seamless care for patients through triage, referrals, refilling medications, scheduling procedures in other departments, and education.

Minimum Qualifications

Related coursework or specialized training beyond high school; supplemented with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience; must also be a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists physicians and other providers; actively supervises staff and patient flow by maintaining an efficiently run clinical setting with adequate staffing; coordinates patient referrals, procedures, educates patients and conducts tests as requested by physicians; communicates with other healthcare organizations and families to coordinate care in a patient-centered, timely and efficient manner; educates patients during their appointments and serves as a patient advocate.

Trains and supervises clinical and administrative staff according to the department’s policies and procedures for effective patient care; maintains clinical schedules to ensure adequate staffing for clinic hours; arranges efficient communication between patients and physicians and pharmacist and between clinics; communicates patient needs and physician concerns with other providers and medical students; communicates directly with the medical director to problem-solve pre-emptively.

Assists in the hiring of new clinical staff and subsequent orientation, training, assigning duties, and evaluation.

Participates in planning, problem-solving, improvement and introduction of new ideas through working with members of the department and SLUCare’s professional, administrative and clinical operations; serves on several committees for SLUCare; informs staff, physicians and others providers about changes in Epic and IDX.

Performs other duties as assigned.
