Detailed Job Description

The Associate Athletic Director for Facility Operations and Sports Medicine will report to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for oversight in all areas related to development and coordination of activities and events at The Regency Athletic Complex and the Physical Education Building at MSU Denver. This position will also be responsible for the development of strategic community partnerships to improve the department’s engagement with local community entities in order to generate revenue for the university and the department of athletics, as well as to provide a service to the surrounding Denver metropolitan community. This position will administer the Athletic Training program and supervise Athletic Trainers and the Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will also serve on the senior leadership team and will participate in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.

Duties/Responsibilities

•Provide oversight in all areas related to the development and coordination of activities and events at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver- including event scheduling for athletic programs, club sports, physical education programs, community partners, and other outside groups.

•Provide oversight for grounds and facility maintenance of the Regency Athletic Complex.

•Develop strategic community partnerships with local community entities to attract non-game day event business to The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver.

•Provide game/event coverage and set-up for designated athletic events.

•Represent the Director of Athletics at BEST committee and Events Stakeholders committee meetings to coordinate scheduling and facility usage for the Physical Education Building at MSU Denver.

•Provide leadership and supervision for the sports medicine department – including athletic trainers, team physicians, and strength and conditioning coach.
• Collaborate with Auraria Campus Health Center to provide services to ensure high-quality preventative and rehabilitative care for student-athletes.
• Work in collaboration with Auraria Campus, Health Center, Faculty Athletic Representative, and Assistant AD for Student Services to administer the concussion management protocol.

•Coordinate and process secondary insurance claims for injured student-athletes

• Collaborate with the Department of Human Performance and Sport to administer the athletic training curriculum
•Collaborate with Auraria Campus Health Center and the Human Performance and Sport to develop innovative strategies and key partnerships to expand the scope of the sports medicine department to provide proactive measures and education which focus on the overall health and wellness of the student-athlete population.

•Assist with Game-Day operations.

•Serve as a member of the department’s senior leadership team.

•May serve as sport administrator for designated sport(s).

•Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in management, Physical Education, Athletic Training, or related field. Three years of experience at the collegiate or professional level in athletic administration, community relations, athletic training, or related field. Experience working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in related field and five years experience at the collegiate or professional level in athletic administration, community relations, or has served as a head athletic trainer.
