Speech/Language Pathologist and Reading Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review intake forms, previous test results, Individualized Educational Plans and other relevant documents. Determine and prepare appropriate assessment battery based on provided information. Administer assessment battery including speech/language and reading instruments. Score and interpret assessments. Meet with other Learning Services team members to discuss results and recommendations. Formulate results and recommendations into a collaborative diagnostic report. Meet with parents and/or referring school personnel to discuss results and recommendations. Review current relevant research and intervention programs as needed. Respond to requests from the public regarding speech/language and reading assessments. Provide professional development and consultation services per contract.


Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology; Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Speech/Language Pathology Five or more years related experience. Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working in a team environment, work independently and problem solve.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments, process calls and complete data input. Literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs. Knowledge of MA Teacher licensing regulations is helpful. Ability to interpret regulations and policies and convey to others. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association; Licensure in Speech/Language Pathology from the Massachusetts Professional Services Board Extensive experience and or training with Language Learning Disabilities, Reading and Writing Disorders, and Dyslexia Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association; Licensure in Speech/Language Pathology from the Massachusetts Professional Services Board

Essential Functions

Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards. Provide extensive diagnostic evaluations with in-depth analysis and interpretation of results in the areas of dyslexia, learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorders. Provide collaborative consultation to other diagnostic specialists and team members. Develop comprehensive intervention recommendations and provide follow-up consultation to parents and educators regarding findings and recommendations. Maintains records of the speech-language and Reading Diagnostics and periodic reports as required. Works with other professionals to carry out the screening process. Administers formal and informal (ongoing & curriculum-based) assessments. Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for services. Develops appropriate IEPs based on students’ strengths & needs. Proven ability to work in a team-orientated office. Provides consultation to parents, teacher and other appropriate school personnel Consults/communicates with non-school agencies to enhance services. Demonstrates and applies best assessment processes for children with specific learning disabilities Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
