The Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services creates value by solving problems, reducing waste, and improving performance affecting AIC’s auxiliary services which includes campus police, dining services, facilities and transportation. Principal responsibilities include managing outsourced facilities vendors, contractors and consultants, and supporting strategic campus planning and customer service. The Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services provides leadership, accountability, and action required to ensure AIC’s service providers for campus police, dining services, facilities and transportation comply with contractual obligations and performance expectations. Additionally, the incumbent will provide leadership in the development of a campus enhancement and land use plan as well as an athletics master plan. The Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services reports to the Executive Vice President for Administration and interacts with senior College leaders, particularly in the areas related to the operations and maintenance of the areas of responsibility as outlined above. The Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services must understand and appreciate the nature of the environs of the College as well as the mission of AIC while making certain that campus facilities fulfill the expected needs. The Vice President for Auxiliary Services is responsible for coordinating and supervising capital projects. This position is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
The Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services plays an important and critical role within the AIC community. The activities this person oversees impact the quality of life of all members of the campus community on a daily basis. To be successful, an individual must bring a blend of technical and interpersonal skills to the role.
Required: • A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, and/or management. • 10 years experience in facility management or related fields. • Financial skills with proven ability to plan and manage both operating and capital budgets. • Experience in developing, negotiating and managing outsourced contractors and consultants. • Experience in developing campus facilities programs that will reduce energy and utility costs, and improve overall conditions of the campus. • A working knowledge of applicable of regulatory agencies and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, Building Code, etc.). • Knowledge of physical plant systems (boilers, electrical and plumbing distribution, elevators, fire protection, etc.). • Experience managing unionized and non-unionized staff in a team-based environment. • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
Desired: • LEED Accreditation. • Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM). • Professional Licensure. • Experience with monitoring energy usage and developing programs for energy source selection and reduced consumption. • Experience with negotiating and managing food service contracts. • Familiarity with a higher education environment. • Microsoft Office Suite • Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling software. • Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) and/or Computer-aided Facilities Management System software (CAFM).
• Administer and coordinate the activities of the outsourced contractors. The primary services are Operation & Maintenance, Custodial, Grounds Maintenance, Food Service, Campus Police, Transportation and Energy and Utilities. • Ensure that service providers meet or exceed performance requirements. • Manage and/or coordinate planning studies or condition assessments • Land Use. • Advise AIC senior leadership in the prioritization of capital maintenance and deferred maintenance programs and budgets. • Develop and implement a customer service and quality control program for the campus, with support of all service providers to ensure it meets the AIC goals. • Identify and implement operational changes that improve performance and/or provide more economical operation. • Evaluate the condition of infrastructure systems, manage the development of prioritized capital equipment replacement programs, operational plans for system replacements, and the execution of planned equipment replacements. • Plan resource needs for proposed expansions and/or repurposing of existing facilities. • Identify potential problems and provide solutions • Work with contractors and employees to reduce waste • Monitor energy usage and develop programs for energy source selection and reduced consumption. • Supervise the safety manager whose responsibilities include overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies. • Ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations • Monitor OSHA compliance through vendors • Assist in the development of insurance requests • Interact with faculty, staff, students, parents, trustees and alumni as appropriate.
