EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) LECTURER - JOB #2345
The Emergency Medical Services Lecturer position is a 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 10, 2016. The successful candidate will be assigned courses primarily in the paramedic program but may be assigned other courses as needed. The lecturer will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, support activities that foster retention, perform the assessment of student learning outcomes, and take part in other service and professional development activities as appropriate. This position requires effective teaching, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. Multiple campus, day, evening, and distance learning teaching assignments are possible. This position reports to the District Academic Department Head, Allied Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a Paramedic program at a regionally accredited institution; and unencumbered current Florida Paramedic Certification, current instructor and provider status in American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support, AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and International Trauma Life Support or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support or the ability to attain these instructor level credentials (at the candidate’s expense) within six months are required. The candidate must complete Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS Instructor credentialing requirements as specified in Chapter 401, Florida Statute and Chapter 64J-1, Florida Administrative Code. Successful results of a drug screen and criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary teaching experience.
SALARY RANGE: $32,251.00 - $38,251.00 for 9-month contract. (Entry level salary is computed and based on authority of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
