Detailed Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for the overall material condition of his/her assigned building(s) and immediate surroundings. The mechanic will perform routine and preventive maintenance repairs, initiate and respond to work orders to ensure that the assigned building(s) are in good repair. The mechanic will support learning programs by maintaining furniture inventories at designated numbers and in good repair. The mechanic will initiate work orders for the custodial staff to maintain facility cleanliness at or above acceptable standards. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. The incumbent is required to assist in meeting the operational needs of the College during emergencies and College closures, as well as, ensure continuity of strategic services.
High school diploma or equivalent and specialized training or equivalent experience in all areas of major responsibility.
Demonstrated abilities in areas of electrical, electronic, plumbing, carpentry and HVACR skills with a minimum of three-years experience in facilities maintenance. A minimum of two-years as Maintenance Mechanic II.
Successful completion of advanced training in HVACR, pneumatic valves, and refrigeration.
Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements:
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather condition, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions.
Ability to work on uneven surfaces.
Ability to utilize lifts, ladders and/or scaffolding to work at elevated heights.
Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record as determined by college policy.
Ability to work safely and reliably with minimum of supervision.
Proven record of attendance and reliability.
Proficient oral, written and electronic communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, faculty staff and the public.
