This position will be responsible for the management of daily operations including supervision of associated staff working in the Chinook and Down Under weight training facilities for University Recreation which provides small group training and group fitness programs. This position is responsible for staff supervision to include recruiting, hiring, training and development, performance management, and initiating corrective / disciplinary action.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Business, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field) and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Master’s Degree in Recreation, Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Marketing and Communications, Business Administration or comparable or related field.
Four or more years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience.
Experience in the development and implementation of extensive staff training and evaluation programs.
Experience in the development and management of budgets.
Demonstrated experience leading group fitness and instruction classes.
Experience in the management and operation of special events.
Certification and/or on-going training in Strength & Conditioning or other specialty fitness programming.
Certification as an Instructor or Instructor Trainer for Lifeguard and/or First-Aid, CPR and AED.
