Researcher II MultiHazard Mitigation Specialist (Full-time, end date contingent on available funding)

Immediate Supervisor: Dr. James Conder, Department of Geology

Duties: Researcher/Analyst is needed for GIS data acquisition, conversion, and interpretation. GIS-based research and support to hazard mitigation and other geoscientific projects. Loss-estimation modeling using HAZUS-MH software. Scheduling and management of hazard mitigation planning meetings. Travel to mitigation planning meetings. Preparation, writing, and editing of mitigation plans.

Position Requirements:

  • Masters degree or BA/BS and equivalent experience in GIS or geospatial applications of geology and geography
  • Experience with ArcGlS, MS Access, and ESRI products
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and integrate large and complex geospatial datasets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with FEMA's HAZUS-MH loss-estimation tool
  • Experience with state or federal government Hazard Mitigation RFPs
  • Multivariate statistical experience

Salary Range: $2900-$3200/month
