Performs a variety of moderately complex clerical and administrative tasks requiring some independent judgment related to ensuring the successful completion of the daily operations of a University administrative unit.

This position provides excellent customer service, professional administrative support and coordination for student mobility programs and advisors at Miami University. Serving as a critical front line resource for international students and scholars, study abroad students, faculty and staff, and community members.


GLI Program Associate is primarily responsible for greeting students, faculty, staff and community members at the Global Initiatives Advising and Consulting Center. Duties include supervise the check-in process for advising appointments for study abroad, international students and scholars, and continuing education; maintain accurate and complete records of activity; respond or refer entity e-mail to resolution; disseminate and collect immigration, visa, and study abroad documents, daily deposits, and payments; respond to inquiries via telephone, e-mail, and instant message; serve as Passport Acceptance Agent; make daily out-of-office trips to PNC, Mailroom, etc.; perform general office tasks as needed, including some student employee supervision and training; performs a variety of clerical tasks including answering phones, typing, copying, etc. 

  1. Processes incoming information and/or documents regarding daily operations; makes first determination as to disposition using set standards.
  2. Serves as informational resource for staff; investigates and resolves problems and difficulties.
  3. Assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures; serves as informational resource to staff.
  4. Monitors and reviews projects; ensures all necessary changes are made.
  5. Gathers and analyzes statistical information regarding department's programs and activities; produces reports.
  6. Performs a variety of clerical tasks including answering phones, typing, and copying.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires nine months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; U.S. Citizen or permanent resident. 

Preferred Qualifications

Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated student-centered approach; working knowledge of Microsoft Office; excellent time management, organization, and communication (verbal and written) skills, including ability to maintain composure under pressure; ability to communicate and work with the diverse population of learners; culturally competent; ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision; supervision experience.
