Under immediate supervision, assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients; prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials; under general supervision, provides imaging services.

Additional training beyond high school diploma; supplemented with six (6) months of experience or training as a Dental Assistant
Review patient schedule and set up floor accordingly; remain visible in treatment area to assist doctor as needed; insure efficient flow between patients and procedures
Prepare work areas and instrument trays for procedures; keep work areas neat and orderly; clean, oil and set up necessary equipment, dust and disinfect operatories; sterilize instruments.
Assist with bonding, removing o-rings, ligature ties, tying and untying patients, cementing bands and attachments
Utilize four-handed dentistry; periodontal charting and instruct patients in oral hygiene.
Maintain steam and dry heat sterilization area by preparing solutions, cleaning and stocking for daily use. Test sterilization equipment and dispose of bio-hazardous waste materia
Conducts inventory, maintains and stocks supply areas and operatories, tracking expiration date of products
Performs as needed – bagging, bur block preparation, clamps, wires, and file box stock
Dental imaging as needed.
