Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director of Disability Services, the Assistant Director of Disability Services serves undergraduate and graduate students with documented disabilities by managing all issues related to their disability and its impact on their academic and co-curricular life including: evaluating assessments, providing information and appropriate academic services, working with faculty to implement accommodations, monitoring student success and college compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act.
A Master’s degree (in special education or psychology or related field preferred) with at least two years of experience working with students with learning, mental health and physical disabilities. College experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate must have the ability to read and understand complex psychological assessments of various learning disabilities and use this information to work with students to develop a plan that will help to insure academic success. Must have strong attention to detail in scheduling accommodations. The candidate must have excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and possess the ability to work with a diverse population. The candidate should also have significant counseling and interpersonal skills to be able to work with students, faculty, staff and families around very sensitive and important issues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or other computer programs or software.
