Assist in the daily operation of the athletic equipment room including issuance, inventory, maintenance, and repair of athletic equipment. Coordinates and administers all aspects of Miami University equipment, uniform, and protective gear needs.

This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.



  • Primary responsibilities include maintenance of daily operations and updating & improving current policies & procedures to accommodate future growth. This position will also supervise student worker(s). Provides equipment for assigned teams, including Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Field Hockey, Men's Track & Field, Women's Track & Field, Cross Country, Volleyball
  • (purchasing, inventory, billing)
  • Maintain, repair, issue, clean, and inventory athletic equipment for assigned teams
  • Responsible for the safety and protection of students during practice and competition through protective equipment and uniforms by evaluating the condition of equipment used by student athletes
  • Facilitate laundry services provided in Millett Hall
  • Purchasing equipment, contacting vendors, preparing orders, contract negotiations and receiving/inspecting deliveries
  • Equipment portion of game management for home athletic events
  • Preparation of equipment for athletic competition, including issuing equipment to individuals
  • Operate motor vehicles to and from practices and competitions
  • Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas and all supplies, vehicles, and equipment used in the performance of duties
  • Report any damage, malfunction, irregularities, and/or potential hazards in grounds, equipment, vehicles, or supplies to supervisor
  • Responsible for establishing and performing with a work ethic that is contagious, productive, and effective
  • Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Miami University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures
  • Able to represent Miami University and the Department of Athletics at events, public activities, alumni gatherings and all related activities
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Equipment Services and Athletic Director  

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered. Some knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control. Must have excellent organizational & personal communication skills and demonstrate computer literacy/proficiency. The successful candidate must also have outstanding leadership, management, & interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students, vendors, & community members. Candidates must have successful experience working in a collaborative and team oriented environment and act with integrity and personal accountability. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Hours and days worked vary. May require some travel.  

Preferred Qualifications

AEMA certification is preferred in order to assist with proper equipment fitting; 1-2 years previous experience in athletic equipment maintenance, inventory management, and ordering
