Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, the SQL Administrator will manage and check the overall health and functionality of the SQL/SharePoint environment. This person will provide technical support for the database environment including developing a methodology for ongoing assessment of database performance and identification of problem areas. This person will be responsible for managing and tuning all SQL databases in production, test, development, and SharePoint environments.


  • Install and configure new database servers
  • Deploy database scripts and updates provided by third party vendors
  • Ensure all databases are backed up and monitored to meet the colleges high availability objectives
  • Maintain all SQL databases including tuning the of servers as needed and maintenance planning
  • Advise on best practice architecture for high performance systems including for high availability and disaster recovery
  • Document the Colleges database environments and track all changes to the environments
  • Analyzing and monitoring trends (growth, and disk space usage).
  • Troubleshooting Event logs, applying patches and updates to all SQL Servers.
  • Regularly reviewing, cleaning-up, managing and configuring servers and accounts.
  • Provide accurate updates on projects, change control requests and operational issues in the environment
  • Tracking and resolving database related incidents, request and trouble tickets
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends


  • Strong organizational, analytic, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with SharePoint 2013 and 2010
  • Comprehensive knowledge of  SQL Server administration for 2008,2012 and 2014
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SharePoint Central Admin and Power shell Administration
  • 5 to7 years of SharePoint and SQL Administration experience with at least 5 years in a senior or lead position
  • Qualified Candidates should have a minimum of a MCSE in SQL Server and SharePoint MCSE
  • Comprehensive understanding of Windows operating systems
  • Understanding of firewalls, Load balancing, security zones, basic operation of websites, Application pools, IIS and SSL

Additional Information

Salary Range: $70,000.00 to 85,000.00
