Detailed Job Description



  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Master’s Degree in Education, preferred
  • 4-5 years of experience in student activities programming in higher education, preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to lift twenty five (25) pounds.  Good dexterity and mobility

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to direct a comprehensive student activities program; ability to supervise student workers; good communication, organizational and public relations skills; professional appearance and attitude; ability to relate to professional level students; good reading and writing skills.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Direct and plan social, mental, and physical activities for the Parker community
  • Promote a student-centered environment with a focus on student leadership
  • Develop collaborative relationships with students, academic partners, and other University departments
  • Plan and develop retention efforts to maintain high level of student satisfaction
  • Prepare and maintain an activities calendar
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals for student programming
  • Facilitate appropriate assessment of student events and programs
  • Market events and programs, including website management and communication to the university community
  • Research and stay current on higher education programs, trends, and issues
  • Coordinate orientation sessions for incoming students
  • Organize graduation activities and for students and employees and oversee budgets and contracts
  • Serve as a resource to student groups and/or populations as a consultant and advocate for their concerns; work with and provide on-going guidance to registered student organizations and their faculty advisors pertaining to college rules and regulations
  • Maintain updated information on all active student clubs and organizations
  • Assist with all club functions including fundraising efforts, on and off campus events, and speaking engagements
  • Serve as on-site administrator for all student-sponsored programs including after-hours events
  • Plan, organize, and direct the annual Parker Talent Show
  • Assist in planning and developing Career Fair events and marketing
  • Develop a weekly newsletter and social media presence for students including activities, announcements, DFW events, and discount offerings
  • Provide students with resources for the Dallas/Fort Worth area
  • Maintain contact with local businesses to offer discounted services and products to students and employees; Manage discount programs for venues and discounted ticket sales for sporting events
  • Serve on college committees as assigned
  • Provide back-up for Student Affairs front desk during break, lunch and vacation periods.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Dean of Student Affairs; assume tasked responsibilities of leadership in the absence of Dean of Student Affairs.
