Performs a variety of complex administrative tasks involving some discretion and requiring moderate amounts of independent judgment related to the oversight of the daily operations of a University administrative unit.
Knowledge of unit's operations, policies, and procedures; supervisory skills; knowledge of computer and office applications; research skills.
Generally typical office environment. May require considerable walking, standing, or bending. May have periodic assignments which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant conditions.
Copying requests for faculty and staff; typing and updating departmental handouts; maintain inventory and ordering supplies for office and department; answering phones and answers inquires and provides information (departmental informational resource to students, vendors, faculty, and staff); knowledge of HireTouch system; understanding of HireTouch for searches; understanding of search processes; responsible for assisting search committee for all department faculty/staff searches; hire, train, schedule and supervise student workers; class cancelations (alerting department/students of cancelations); knowledge of EPAF system; originate all PT faculty contracts for the department each semester; originate summer chair administrative contract; assist department chair with faculty evaluation process/procedures; assist department chair regarding course offerings and student enrollment; maintain P-card for department and reconcile expenditures each month; ensure faculty follow university procedures and guidelines for purchases; assist department chair with monitoring department budgets.
Requires nine months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.
