Basic Fuction

This assignment supports all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for the Nursing/Allied Health Departments; provides direct instruction utilizing simulation; develops simulations for student and faculty use; maintains nursing lab environment and simulation equipment; and, provides faculty training in simulation.
This assignment will also require instruction in a full range of Nursing courses that may include teaching at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple teaching methodologies.
Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Nursing department; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Nursing
    OR – Baccalaureate degree in nursing and a Master’s degree, which shall include course work in nursing, education, or administration
    OR – Baccalaureate degree in nursing and enrollment in an accredited college for a Master’s degree which shall include course work in nursing, education, or administration, with a scheduled completion date before December 2018 academic year;
  • A valid, active license as a California Registered Nurse;
  • At least two year’s continuous, full-time experience in direct patient care practice as a Registered Nurse within the last 5 years
  • Successful approval by the Board of Registered Nursing and Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Shall have or be willing to complete (within 6 months of hire) a course in teaching offered by an accredited school;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • One year experience in simulation and/or skills lab instruction
  • Record of successful teaching experience in a pre or post-licensure nursing program

Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.

  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.

$64,009.50 annually

Maximum Salary

$118,672.93 annually ($83,988.06 maximum entry level)
