Under the direction of the chair of the Department of English & Literature, teaches four courses per semester, usually first-year composition. May provide service to the college and community. Upholds professional and ethical standards.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master’s Degree in English or a closely related field required.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoral degree in English or a closely related field preferred.
A minimum of three years of successful teaching of English at the college/university level, and an interest or experience in teaching online is required.
Knowledge of subject matter and course content of composition courses.
Knowledge of Canvas or similar learning management systems.
Knowledge of current online instructional strategies and pedagogical techniques.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to instruct and motivate students, manage classroom procedures, and evaluate student learning.
