The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (RSCPHSW) at Florida International University invites applications for a departmental Chair position with tenure.
The focus of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health is on training and research in environmental health and related issues, and both the Department and College have strong collaborations with other colleges and research centers, including the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, and Arts and Sciences. The Department offers a certificate, an M.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees.
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in environmental and occupational health or a related discipline. A successful candidate will have a broad knowledge and experience in issues related to environmental and occupational health, have administrative experience in an academic setting, have external research funding, and be prepared to engage in collaborative research in a multi-disciplinary public health setting. The Chair of Environmental and Occupational Health will participate in the governance and management of the College as a member of the Executive Committee. The Chair will provide active leadership in the Department, including periodic evaluation of the Department’s curriculum and research activities. The Chair will be expected to actively mentor junior faculty and to participate in College-wide junior faculty mentoring activities. Responsibilities also include research, teaching, advising graduate students, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, and serving the university, professional, and public health practice communities.
