Detailed Job Description

The Grant and Contract Specialist will assist The University of Alabama faculty and staff in the review and processing of sponsored project proposals and in the review, revision, and development of sponsored project proposed budgets. Other responsibilities may include assuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local government administrative requirements related to pre-award and/or post-award sponsored project activities and negotiation of sponsored contract terms and conditions. The Grant and Contract Specialist must independently make decisions, authorize actions, and manage the sponsored programs assigned.

Additional Department Summary:

This position exists to enhance the college-wide research mission of the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) in the administration of contract/grant research awards for fiscal integrity, compliance to federal cost standards and/or sponsor requirements. This position supports faculty research in both pre-award budget development and post award budgetary compliance. This position resides within the Rural Health Institute (research support for CCHS) and reports directly to the Director of the Institute and/or the Associate Dean for Research. THis position provides college-wide fiscal oversight for all contract/grant related activity. The position also maintains a liaison relationship with the University Offices of Sponsored Programs and Contract and Grant Accounting.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two (2) years accounting, bookkeeping, budget related, OR contract and grant experience, OR a Masters degree in any field with some accounting, bookkeeping, budget related, OR contract and grant experience. Must be proficient with personal computers and applicable software to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. 57 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 32614.44 Midpoint - $ 47299.20
