Quinnipiac University's Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, Department of Academic Affairs invites applications for the position of Clinical Skills Center Director. This is a unique opportunity to create a new Clinical Skills Center that reflects the interdisciplinary mission of our School of Medicine.
The Clinical Skills Center Director reports to the Director of the Clinical Arts and Sciences course, and, under the supervision of the Director, is responsible for providing comprehensive management over the Clinical Skills Center (CSC). In this capacity, the CSC Director, working with the Director of the Clinical Arts and Sciences course, will ensure a high quality clinical education experience for Quinnipiac medical, nursing and health science students.

Constitute and then supervise the Standardized Patient (SP) program, including:
Lead recruitment efforts to identify and attract qualified SP’s; Along with appropriate faculty in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science, train SP’s for their role as patient instructors for student learning and assessment;schedule and coordinate the pool of SP's; develop performance metrics and ongoing programs for retention of qualified SP's; In conjunction with clinical faculty members, develop patient scenarios for use in the clinical skills center. As able, direct scholarship related to the CSC.
In collaboration with the Foundations of Clinical Care Coordinator and under the supervision of the Director of the Clinical Arts and Sciences Course, help to implement the FCC curriculum and comprehensive clinical skills examinations for students. Develop and manage the budget, assist with hiring and supervision of staff.
Meet on a regular basis with administration, students, and faculty, to ensure the needs of students, relative to the educational mission, are managed and addressed in a timely manner.
Work collaboratively with faculty in the Quinnipiac University Schools of Nursing and Health Sciences to develop and enhance interprofessional education and training opportunities at the CSC.
Assume a role in the evaluation process for the CSC by reviewing student, faculty, and SP reviews of their experiences.
Participate in leadership training programs and professional CSC organizations to assure future innovation and best practices for the CSC.
Develop, or augment, expertise with CAE learning space software to provide facilitation of its use by students, faculty, and SPs.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Clinical Arts and Sciences course and/or the Dean.
A Masters or Doctoral degree in an educational or clinically related field.
Direct experience with standardized patients and clinical skills assessment strongly preferred.
Experience in the education of health professional undergraduate students and/or graduate trainees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with members of the academic community.
Strong collaborative skills and commitment to teamwork.
Strong organizational and managerial skills.
Ability to work independently with appropriate guidance.
