Provides strategic direction, administration, and leadership for the university’s campus wide internship program. Directs, evaluates, recommends, and approves policy and procedure for the operation of the program. Trains, supervises, and evaluates the central Internship Services staff and Internship Coordinators for the various colleges/schools. Administers, approves, and evaluates multiple budgets, grants, and scholarships providing ongoing financial management. Directs the development and promotion of internships within each of the individual colleges/schools. Oversees the coordination and training of faculty supervisors and the preparation of required internship course materials. Partners with a variety of university departments to develop the program and oversees the services provided to students. Directs the development and implementation of the state legislative internship program, the Washington DC Experience, and other governmental and high impact internships. Gives direction and leadership for the development of internships with employers in the local, national and international community. Provides reports and data to evaluate the success of the overall program.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Masters of Administration, Behavioral Science, Business, Communication, Education or other related field and three years experience in career counseling, job placement, educational management, internships services or other experience related to the summary of duties.
Knowledge of job search, internships, counseling and career planning, college student recruitment by employers, job placement, and career development theory.
Knowledge of personnel management and leadership to include skills in collaboration, team building, and persuasion.
Knowledge of program development, strategic planning and development of policies and procedures to meet or exceed goals.
Knowledge of budgeting procedures and fiscal planning.
Knowledge of methods/techniques of research, analysis, presentation of statistical data, and proposal/business/report writing.
Knowledge of university core values and goals.
Skills in collaboration, team work, persuasion, team building, and leadership.
Skills in budget management, writing reports, and informative documents.
