The incumbent will need to perform a wide range of duties involving complex research problems in the application of molecular markers to plant genetics. Specific duties include: computational analysis of complex molecular marker information; bioinformatics development of information sources and molecular marker profiles; developing new techniques in order to improve efficiency and accuracy of information gathering and programs involved in informational analysis; providing technical assistance for visiting scientist’s research projects as needed. Maintain good documentation on the approaches used for analysis and provide the same with deliverables if needed. Perform data transfers, clear sequencing server space and maintain back-up of all data regularly. Maintain lab website. Other duties including participating in the preparation of data for scientific technical reports; overseeing the laboratory routine, maintenance and care of complex laboratory equipment.
MS degree or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Computational Biology.
Post baccalaureate with specialized experience working in an academic environment.
3+ years of experience in bioinformatics/computational biology.
Experience working with Next Generation Sequencing data, bioinformatics tools and databases.
Previous experience in development of GUIs a plus.
Prior experience in Perl, R, Python or similar. Experience in Java is a plus.
Develop computational pipelines for genomics data analysis.
Design and implement solutions for complex tools.
Proficiency in UNIX scripting and working in an HPC environment.
Should be organized and detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
