The Academic Coordinator/Advisor 2 is the lead advisor for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) and is responsible for advising and supporting students in the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Food Systems (AFS) and Integrated Plant Sciences (IPS) degrees for CAHNRS. Duties are intrinsic to the interdisciplinary B.S. in AFS and IPS undergraduate programs. Responsibilities include supporting the coordination of internship experiences with the CAHNRS Internship and Career Development Coordinator for AFS and IPS students, and engaging in on-campus recruitment activities as needed in support of the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Retention. Activities may include representing AFS and IPS at on-campus recruitment activities, various campus committees and events, and providing academic support to students and course support for faculty affiliated with AFS and IPS majors, and career tracking of graduates from these degree programs. Other duties consist of logistical program administration and updating websites associated with AFS, IPS and developing and managing articulation agreements into these programs.
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of academic advising experience or related experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Previous experience working with students.
Demonstrated experience working in an environment where customer service is valued and emphasized.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, FileMaker Pro, and Adobe Acrobat.
Knowledge of and/or experience in an academic/educational setting.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the agricultural industry. Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a team setting.
