Under the direction of the Outdoor Adventure Center Program Manager, the Rockwall/Shop Manager will supervise, train, and evaluate shop and climbing wall employees; manage deposits and tracking of all monies; manage equipment inventory, rental and retail purchasing, repairs and maintenance of all equipment; and manage the POS system.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus three to five years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling at least seven years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Outdoor Education or Recreation Management or a related field with one year of business related experience in retail and two years supervisory experience.
Knowledge of Outdoor Recreation and Outdoor Education Philosophy.
Knowledge and experience of retail operations relating to outdoor education, outdoor equipment, and higher education resources.
Knowledge of business management and retail management principles.
Knowledge of industry standards for climbing wall.
Requires CWI Climbing Wall Instructor or Single Pitch Instructor Certification.
Requires First Aid and CPR certification.
Skills in leading a professional and productive team.
Skills to recognize, train, instruct, and enforce proper climbing wall policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
Ability to communicate orally and written to diverse groups.
Ability to maintain an organized and neat work area.
Ability to promote awareness of Outdoor Adventures by assisting the program manager with marketing.
Ability to lead by example.
Ability to communicate with vendors and the UVU community.
