The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for a full-time, Category II position in Less Commonly Taught Languages with emphasis in either German, Japanese or Chinese to begin August, 2016.
NOTE: Based on the enrollment and demand for either German, Japanese or Chinese, the Department will be selecting the candidate to complete 12 credit hours teaching with 3 credit hours of re-assigned time for administrative duties, per semester. This is a one-year temporary Category II appointment with benefits.

Teach foreign language undergraduate courses in either German, Japanese or Chinese at the annual academic year load of 30 semester credit hours or the equivalent, day, evening, and weekend, as needed.
Candidates have the opportunity to negotiate a reduction in teaching load in order to perform foundational advisement for students in the major/minor and assist with the development, recruiting for, and administration of study abroad programs offered through the Modern Languages Department.
Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners.
Master’s Degree in target language. Native or near-native fluency in either German, Japanese or Chinese, as well as English.
Doctoral Degree in the target language.
Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, including delivery of general education courses and the ability to teach about ethnic minorities;
Experience in proficiency-based language instruction;
Interest and capability in integrating new and emerging learning and instructional technologies in the teaching environment and service learning opportunities.
