Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, or related design discipline – e.g., Design, Communication Design, Media Design, etc. plus 4 years of relevant industry experience; or a Master’s Degree plus 2 years of relevant industry experience; terminal degree and deep technical acumen preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching and demonstrated teaching skills.
A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, industry, staff and students
Experience working on a variety of interactive design and user experience design projects, as shown in a professional-level portfolio available to the hiring committee upon demand.
Must be available full-time starting August 15, 2016.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at UVU.
Experienced in UX/IxD/Product Design creative processes and methodologies that employ sketching, wireframing, prototyping, and conceptualization techniques through delivery.
Must posses Visual Design skills in layout, typography, and color application, and be able to teach these creative elements to students in highly technical scenarios that include mobile, home, and auto platforms with an emphasis on UI, publication, and Internet-based subscription media platforms.
Demonstrates a command of interaction design, visual design and information design/architecture with a mind for teaching students the art of simplicity.
Prefer an insightful thinker with prolific exploration and a knack for experimentation.
Skills in the use of programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign as well as SketchApp, Hype, and InVision prototyping-type tools.
An understanding of the digital publication process and subscription-based media is also preferred, and would include DPS, MagPlus, ePub 3.0, and new XML-based news subscription languages and technologies entering the market to build on future curriculum needs.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
This position requires an individual who is a master of desktop and mobile platforms (Mac OS, Windows, iOS and Android) and connectivity services while integrating equipment into classrooms and development sandboxes.
Ability to be a self-starter, and obsessed with generating polished output, success being measured by delivering with all details in place, and a job well done being the minimum expectation.
