Nationally recognized Scripps Gerontology Center of Excellence seeks a Research Assistant/Associate to assist with various ongoing research projects. The Scripps research agenda includes (but is not limited to) long-term care policy, systems, and services; evaluation; health, caregiving, disability, and longevity; and demography. The mission of the Scripps Gerontology Center is to do work that makes a positive difference in the lives of aging individuals, their families and communities, and to meet the needs of aging societies. We accomplish this mission through excellence in research, education, and service.
The Research Assistant/Associate will be assigned to several projects that involve research project management and working with Scripps project teams and external partners; assist with data collection and analysis, including survey development, data entry and cleaning, coding, and maintaining project database; may also conduct phone- and in-person interviews or assist researchers with focus group coordination and facilitation; assist with creation and analysis of quantitative data sets; report writing; production of research presentations; and other dissemination activities.
Require: Bachelor’s degree in gerontology or related social science field. Graduate coursework in gerontology or related social science field. Knowledge of social science based research. Strong problem solving skills. All applicants are expected to demonstrate excellent oral, written and analytical skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SAS, SPSS or other data analysis software.
Desire: Master’s in gerontology; experience assisting researchers with writing documents such as Institutional Review Board applications, manuscripts/reports, and/or grant proposals.
