This position is responsible for the strategic planning, administration, and direct support of the WSU Tri-Cities GEAR UP project. The Site Manager represents the university as primary liaison to the partner schools and their communities implementing GEAR UP goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, university, and grant regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to: provide direct outreach services to students; planning, preparation and leadership participation of group activities and seminars; coordinate and communicate with school administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students, area colleges, community members, organizations and businesses; provide local leadership in program evaluation; collect data documenting accomplishments and future needs; develop recommendations to improve program effectiveness.
This position will provide support to key program components, including tutor training and supervision, career exploration, and post-secondary preparation.
This position has a work location in Kennewick, WA.
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. One (1) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
-Three (3) or more years of experience supervising subordinate staff.
-Experience managing a government grant program in a middle or high school setting.
-Experience developing and managing a budget.
-Experience coordinating events and filed trips for students.
-Experience working with college readiness programs.
-Professional first-hand experience motivating students of low-income or disadvantaged youth.
-Demonstrated strong communication, team building, problem-solving and conflict management skills.
-Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources in the district’s community; familiarity with such resources in the greater Central Washington region.
