The Voice Department is seeking bassists to accompany voice students in ensemble classes. Bassists will act as part of the "house band" for regularly scheduled Voice Department classes and periodic additional accompanying assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as "house band" for regularly scheduled Voice Department classes.
Participate in Voice Department performances and/or additional rehearsals.
Accompany Visiting Artists' concerts, clinics and workshops.
Assist students and faculty during class time.
Some nights/weekends may be required.
Have a strong musical education in a wide range of styles (jazz, musical theatre, blues, pop, rock, country, fusion).
Excellent sight-reading/sight-playing skills.
Have a command of the instrument.
Are sensitive to the needs of vocalists.
Cultivate a supportive learning environment.
Have a collaborative approach to music making.
Promote a climate of respect for personal and cultural differences.
Value ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional life.
Are self-critical, questioning, and committed to personal excellence and self-improvement.

A background in Jazz, Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, Latin Jazz, Fusions
Bachelors degree in Music (preferably from Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory or New England Conservatory)
