Detailed Job Description

The Voice Department is seeking bassists to accompany voice students in ensemble classes. Bassists will act as part of the "house band" for regularly scheduled Voice Department classes and periodic additional accompanying assignments.


  • Act as "house band" for regularly scheduled Voice Department classes.
  • Participate in Voice Department performances and/or additional rehearsals.
  • Accompany Visiting Artists' concerts, clinics and workshops.
  • Assist students and faculty during class time. 
  • Some nights/weekends may be required.
  • Have a strong musical education in a wide range of styles (jazz, musical theatre, blues, pop, rock, country, fusion).

  • Excellent sight-reading/sight-playing skills.
  • Have a command of the instrument.
  • Are sensitive to the needs of vocalists.

Required Experience

  • A background in Jazz, Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, Latin Jazz, Fusions
  • Bachelors degree in Music (preferably from Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory or New England Conservatory)
