Frostburg State University, Programs Advancing Student Success (PASS), seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month exempt Learning Specialist position in a comprehensive academic support system. Salary commensurate with experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package. 

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of PASS, assist students with learning strategies, organization skills, goal-setting, time management, and textbook reading assistance. Manage the PAL (Peer-Assisted Learning) Program, including recruiting, hiring, and training student tutors. Assist with administration of the Beacon early alert system and follow up on alerts. Meet individually with students on academic probation to develop academic recovery strategies and goals. Present learning strategies workshops to freshmen orientation classes. Assist with freshmen basic skills writing and reading testing and placement. Maintain records and prepare reports assessing effectiveness of activities and programs. Provide professional tutoring in area(s) of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or related field. At least one year of experience working in an educational role at the post-secondary level. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing academic support for college students or in an advising role at the college level. Knowledge of program assessment.

Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
