The Group Fitness & Instruction Coordinator will develop and implement group fitness and non-credit instruction programs for University Recreation. The Group Fitness & Instruction Coordinator will be responsible for the management of more than 100 Group Fitness and Instruction activities per week including the recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of associated Graduate Assistants and hourly staff.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Business, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field) and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Master’s Degree in Recreation, Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Marketing and Communications, Business Administration or comparable or related field.
Experience in higher education recreation or collegiate student service setting.
Experience in the development and implementation of extensive staff training and evaluation programs.
Experience in the development and management of budgets.
Demonstrated experience leading group fitness and instruction classes.
Certification and/or on-going training in Barre, yoga, Pilates, Gravity Training Systems, special populations, group cycling, dance and/or other specialty fitness programming.
Current fitness certification in two or more of the following areas: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA or comparable.
Certification as an Instructor and Instructor Trainer for Lifeguard and/or First-Aid, CPR and AED
