Detailed Job Description
The Associate Vice President for Marketing and Brand Strategy serves as the university's primary brand manager and creative lead for all print and digital production, broadcast operations, photography, web content and design.
Additional Department Summary:
He/she provides direction and management for the areas of marketing, design and production, photography, broadcast production and web services. This includes directing and managing market research efforts to gauge brand awareness and affinity, making strategic recommendations based on outcomes, creating and revising brand standards as needed, communicating changes across campus, and identifying best practices in the industry. This position works with the Vice President for Strategic Communications to support the university's strategic plan and advance the university's mission through the use of marketing, advertising and creative production; with the Associate Vice President for Communications to align messaging and effectively communicate the university's brand; with the Department of Athletics on licensing and merchandising compliance; with creative professionals across campus to insure brand standards are met and the university's brand is consistent across all platforms; and with outside partners and vendors to insure exceptional quality on all university print materials, advertising and production services. He/she also serves as a member of the university's crisis team.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working in the fields of communications and/or media relations. Experience working in a higher education environment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written communications. Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Skills and Knowledge:
Experience directing and managing creative teams. Experience working collaboratively with athletic departments. Ability to communication clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written communications. Experience working with outside partners and vendors in a creative capacity. Experience working with and managing videographers, photographers, graphic artists and other creative professionals. Experience working in a highly confidential, fast-paced environment with multiple shifting priorities. Strong work ethic and ability to work night and weekends as necessary. Ability to provide budget management and oversight
Master's degree preferred. At last 7 years of experience in higher education. Non Classified - Grade NA
