The Animator will work collaboratively as a member of Berklee Online’s in-house video team to create professional animations and visualizations for video and media content. This includes animation for instructor-led courses, MOOCs, and marketing initiatives. This position requires extensive knowledge of animation including: professional animation with Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, storyboarding, creating screen captures, file management, sound design, creating standalone animations as well as ancillary animations and graphics (lower thirds, bumpers, opens, closes, thumbnails, GIFs, etc.).

The Animator is responsible for visualizing and communicating music based educational content. As such, a knowledge of, or background in music is required. In addition, strong attention to detail and the ability to follow brand guidelines and workflow best practices is required. As a member of a highly collaborative team, the Animator is also responsible for helping with content creation and video production as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Professional animation with Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D (or similar) as well as experience with the entire Adobe Creative Cloud toolset (Premiere, Photoshop, Encoder, etc.)
  • Creating standalone animations as well as supporting graphical elements (lower thirds, bumpers, opens, closes, thumbnails, GIFs, etc.).
  • 2D and 3D animation, storyboarding, audio design, and graphics creation.
  • The ability to creatively visualize ways to teach educational content focused on music.
  • Working collaboratively with video producers, editors, stakeholders, etc., to take projects from conception to completion.
  • Organizing and tracking assets with file and digital asset management best practices in a shared workflow environment.
  • Archiving projects and animation assets.
  • Adhering to Berklee Online’s brand and workflow guidelines.
  • Quality assurance and attention to detail in creating and reviewing work.
  • Assisting with video production as needed.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Demonstrated animation expertise, including at least two years of experience in the following areas:

  • All areas of animation including: 2D, 3D, motion graphics, screen captures, storyboarding, audio design, for standalone animations as well as supporting graphics.
  • Knowledge of video production technologies and techniques.
  • Understanding of the entire creative process from ideation to distribution.

Required Experience

Demonstrated animation expertise, including at least two years of experience in the following areas:

  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow creative direction.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and techniques as video production standards and workflows evolve.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced atmosphere with high standards for quality, accuracy, and innovation.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some nights/weekend as needed.
