As an experienced and engaging leader, the Network and Systems manager serves the Infrastructure Services team in the Information Technology department of WSU Vancouver. The manager is responsible to guide the oversight, implementation, and maintenance of the wired and wireless networks and support and processes to support the data centers, servers, and systems used on campus.
This position supervises the Infrastructure Services team of full-time IT network technicians and system administrators as well as student employees. As a member of WSU Vancouver IT Leadership Team, the Infrastructure Services manager works closely with the Campus CIO, counterparts at other WSU campuses, capital planning, and facilities operations in coordination and cooperation of efforts related to network infrastructure, systems, servers, disaster recovery, and infrastructure components.
The Infrastructure Services manager develops processes, procedures and best practices for providing a reliable network and systems with appropriate bandwidth, capacity, and security to support the educational and research needs of the university. The manager leads design, deployment and operations of the WSU Vancouver networks, servers, voice and data communication equipment, and disaster recovery planning and activities. This includes managing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software components of the described infrastructure; training members of IT in maintenance and support of the technology infrastructure.
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years professional experience, of which one (1) year must have been in a leadership role OR a combination of education and experience totaling eight (8) years from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired.
Experience in higher education
Information technology experience related to installing, maintaining operating and managing data/voice network and server.
Experience providing customer or technical support in information technology.
Experience working with multiple operating systems and associated hardware and software.
Experience supporting a virtualized environment.
Experience with digital and VOIP phone systems.
Experience with DBMS.
Advanced degree from an accredited college or university
