Under general direction, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) assists with administering anesthetics and/or monitors the anesthetized patient during surgical, obstetric and radiological procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an approved RN program; supplemented with two (2) years related experience. Missouri RN License and certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluates the patient pre-operatively by interviewing and examining the patient; assesses data; selects appropriate anesthetic.

Administers anesthetics in accordance with clinical privileges delineated and any conditions or restrictions imposed thereof.

Monitors, interprets, and evaluates information derived from monitors intraopertatively on the patient of any age group and physical status; protects patients life functions and vital organs.

Monitors the patients post-operatively care and performs evaluation of the patient.

Performs medical non-surgical procedures, i.e. IV insertion, intubation, hemodynamic and electrolyte balance, airway management in routine and acute medical situations; prepares drugs; maintains anesthesia equipment to keep in safe operating condition; maintains accounting of controlled substances; performs other duties as assigned.
