The College of Business Graduate Student Outreach and Admissions Specialist represents the College of Business (CBUS) on campus and in the community. The primary role is to increase exposure of the CBUS graduate programs and the degrees we offer as well as increase student enrollment and retention in our programs. The Specialist will work collaboratively with the assistant director of CBUS graduate studies, the University’s marketing and communications department, admissions department, and any other appropriate departments to ensure a consistent and accurate message regarding the CBUS graduate programs is being disseminated. The Specialist will also create and maintain communications to prospective and existing students, build and sustain community and employer partnerships and relationships related to continuing education (not necessarily employment), and generally supports the assistant director of the CBUS graduate programs.
40% Implements outreach and recruiting activities using available university resources, on and off campus; coordinates and participates in various facets of the recruiting program including on-campus visitation events, off-campus visitation events, informational sessions, career fairs, graduate school fairs, site visits, and networking events. Provides admissions counseling and academic planning to prospective students; Conducts targeted follow-up communications (email, phone, web, social media, and text) with prospective students from initial contact through enrollment into a program.
20% Executes an advertising and marketing plan to increase the internal and external exposure of graduate degrees offered through the CBUS. Maintains and distributes promotional materials relevant to the plan including but not limited to brochures, flyers, postcards, and newsletters. Maintains social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn for any CBUS graduate program. Works as part of the College of Business Communications Team.
10% Utilizes assessment tools and strategic enrollment management principles to evaluate effectiveness of recruiting events and marketing plan; stays relevant on general public relations and marketing trends in graduate education. Modifies and refines recruiting events and marketing plan to keep each viable and relevant and to achieve strategic enrollment goals.
20% Develops relationships and expand current relationships with businesses and other schools to connect prospective students to continuing education opportunities or degree programs. Assists in identifying new partnerships to sponsor continuing education programs, scholarships, events, etc.
10% Assists the Assistant Director of CBUS Graduate Programs with general program support
2 or more years of recruiting or participating in community related outreach.
Ability to work effectively independently as well as with a team.
Experience with data gathering.
Experience with enrollment management.
Have a method of transportation or the ability to obtain a method of transportation that allows for traveling to and from events with recruitment materials.
2-5 years recruiting students in higher ed.
Experience using Student Data Management System such as Banner or related system.
Demonstrated skills in creating marketing and promotional materials (or related items) or using social media in a professional manner.
Experience leading informational sessions or workshops.
