Job Responsibilities


Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assists students in scheduling patients and performing assigned auxiliary duties

Trains students in the use of the dental software program and assists with any related challenges.

Assists the Dental Hygiene Preceptor/Clinical Coordinator in the oversight of Dental Hygiene Clinic Dispensary (sterilization and distribution of instruments, biological monitoring).

Assists the Dental Hygiene Preceptor/Clinic Coordinator in the oversight of the Dental Hygiene Clinic, laboratory, classroom X-ray processing equipment, and scheduled maintenance

Maintains the MSDS log annually and assists in the proper disposal of dental bio-hazardous materials in accordance with College guidelines.

Inputs student clinical evaluations into spreadsheet.

Provides Quality Assurance and statistical reports as needed.

Provides information and tours of the Clinic to visitors.

Ensures reception and Dental Hygiene area is clean and orderly.

Coordinates maintenance of the Dental Complex equipment. Notifies maintenance of physical environment irregularities.

Maintains inventory of supplies and places orders as needed.

Maintains organized storage area

Maintains Community Outreach schedule/assignments

Monitors budget.

Reconciles payment records with the Enrollment Center/Business Office and completes receipts/ledger entries. Insures money is appropriately deposited into the Dental Hygiene clinic account.

Approves class overrides and intradepartmental transfers.

Participates in community outreach activities

Provides administrative and secretarial support to the Dental Hygiene Program Manager and Preceptor/Clinical Coordinator and the Associate Dean Health Careers and Sciences, including:

Greets visitors, answers phone and checks e-mail, mailbox and voice mail.

Responds to inquiries in a timely manner or refers individuals to appropriate person/department, demonstrating customer-focused orientation and service.

Composes and prepares routine correspondence, form letters, requisitions, lists and tables. Proofreads all work for errors.

Distributes correspondence or other printed materials.

Organizes and maintains file system. Files correspondence and other records.

Operates office machines as required and instructs others in the operation of such machines.

Screens mail, routes according to content and fills requests for standard materials, such as reprints and publications.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications


High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)

Minimum of two years of year of experience in dental office management

Certified Dental Assistant

Familiarity with Eaglesoft© dental office management software (or equivalent)

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated experience working successfully with the public

Ability to learn dental computer software and train users

Skills in keyboarding, basic grammar and math, basic level word processing (MS Word) and basic level spreadsheet applications (MS Excel)

Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of regular work

Proof of immunity to or inoculation against the hepatitis B virus, or willingness to complete the hepatitis B inoculation process

Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications


Associate’s Degree

Demonstrated dental assistant experience

Demonstrated dental auxiliary education experience

Work Schedule

Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Target Hiring Rate/Salary

Minimum of $38,006 Annualized

Special Note

This is a Full-time (1199/SEIU) Bargaining Unit position, Grade 06. Full time (1199/SEIU) bargaining unit employees at Cuyahoga Community College will be considered first for vacant positions.
