Detailed Job Description

The Mental Health Professional III (MHP III) provides clinical services to clients and their families and fulfills specific clinical and supervisory functions. The primary responsibilities include providing clinical services, serving as an expert member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, exercising clinical oversight of non-licensed staff, serving as a liaison to various groups, and providing agency-wide leadership on clinical matters. The MHP III will also assist with program evaluation and research, and may also serve as the Discipline Liaison.

Additional Department Summary:

This position leads services to a highly specific targeted population within the UA student population, those who have violated the code of student conduct specifically related to alcohol and other drugs and are required to have a clinical assessment and active participation in an appropriate on campus treatment program, determined by the initial clinical assessment. Those assessed to need more than what the campus programs within SHC can provide are recommended for referral to outside sources, including IOP (intensive outpatient programs), residential, inpatient detox services, etc.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in a mental-health related field from an accredited institution of higher education, with coursework in child development and two years of successful mental health experience, or a Master's Degree in a mental-health related field and five years of mental health experience. Must include experience with children and/or adolescents. Licensure in the state of Alabama at the level of an Independent Practitioner.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Must include experience with adolescents and/or young adults and addiction counseling/services. Must have a valid mental health related license to practice (e.g. LCSW, LMFT, LPC, clinical psychologist, etc.). Evidence of leading a mental health program that involves assessment and counseling. If in recovery, must be at least 7 years in recovery.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with direct experience with the college –age population and substance abuse assessment and treatment services and experience in an institution of higher education. In addition, preference will be given to those with a proven track record in program planning and evaluation in addiction services. Grant writing and success in support of clinical programs in Alcohol and Other Drug. Have proficient computer skills and experience in an electronic medical record. 59 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 43887.96 Midpoint - $ 63648.00
