The Department of Educational Psychology oversees multiple academic programs that are part of a blended learning program in special education leading to licensure as a K-12 Intervention Specialist and/or a Master of Education degree. This 12-month unclassified position would play a key role in supporting the curricular and programmatic processing within this program, and work closely with department staff and leadership in providing program oversight and administration.

The Program Manager serves to primarily provide course and program coordination support, academic advising, and to assist current students as a liaison with the University offices for student services (e.g. financial aid, registration, bursar, Office of Student Teaching).  The duties of this position primarily include broad and ongoing efforts related to program operations and work in collaboration with other staff and faculty within the College of Education, Health, and Society.  Opportunities to teach one or more program courses exist for candidates with Master’s degree or higher.


Essential Duties:

·       Collaborate in program planning for course delivery

·       Provide academic advising services to students in selecting courses in which to enroll for each academic term

·       Process incoming applications for licensure program

·       Maintain and compile assessment data for accreditation and ongoing evaluation purposes

·       Maintain student records related to licensure and/or M.Ed program.

·       Establish and maintain schedule for course session schedule

·       Process incoming student petitions

·       Collaborate in course and program coordination

·       Maintain current records of course Information such as course description/syllabus

·       Develop and implement agenda for student program orientation

·       Arrange logistical details for face-to-face in collaboration with other staff

·       Communicate with Office of Financial Aid, and Office of the Registrar, Health Services, and other offices to regarding issues affecting student enrollment and progress.

Technology systems: Effectively use technology systems such as student information systems to communicate with, and monitor progress of students through the academic program(s).

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree with background in education, special education, educational psychology, educational administration or closely related field

·       One or more years professional work experience with higher education students or in a field related to special education.

·       Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and other forms of communication.

·       Excellent organizational and time management skills

·       Ability to organize and plan and schedule events.

·       Ability to effectively collect, summarize, and maintain records of data related to academic programs

·       Knowledge and skills of computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet and/or database applications.

·       Availability to attend program-related events such course sessions held approximately once per month on Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Master’s degree with background in education, special education, educational psychology, educational administration or closely related field.

·       Knowledge of teacher licensing programs and licensure application procedures

·       Knowledge or experience related to teaching courses in special education teacher preparation.

·       One or more years professional work experience with distance or non-traditional students

Knowledge of, or ability to learn web-based applications used in eLearning such as a learning management system (LMS)
