Provide complex graphic support services, such as layout, art creation, and design to fulfill client requirements for promotional, instructional, and research materials, as well as other administrative materials. Assist in consulting with university faculty, staff, and students to coordinate graphic services and provide direction to clients as needed. Assist in the selection and use of technological resources pertaining to graphic services.
Produce designs and artwork through computer graphics and multimedia production to meet the requirements of clients.
Collaborate with other artists to determine distribution of workflow and share ideas for projects and designs.
Conduct research on content and style, search for images and graphics appropriate to content.
Meet with consultants for job clarification, design and production options, questions and concerns.
Consult with clients as necessary to clarify requirements for their design projects and to review proofs.
Maintain records of materials, time spent on jobs, and bill finished jobs according to procedures.
Maintain files according to standard operating procedure (for later retrieval and updating), clearing out outdated files, and updating computer software.
Maintain supply inventory and document unit purchases.
Actively promote a customer-oriented approach throughout Regional Marketing & Public Relations.
Participate in computer skills training and keep current with updates.
Participate in professional development activities.
Participate in cross-functional projects.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrated experience with software used for graphic design and page layout
Demonstrated experience in design and layout for digital and offset printing Knowledge of design and illustration for electronic artwork
Knowledge of web design
Demonstrated experience using Macintosh platform, some experience with PC
Verbal and written communication skills; including communicating technical information in terms understandable to the end user
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability and willingness to work independently in a team environment
Customer service skills; including diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handling complaints, problems, questions, conflict, and suggestions
Ability to take initiative, analyze problems and generate solutions
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design/Arts or a comparable terminal certification/degree in a related field
One to three (1-3) year’s experience
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience providing the knowledge/skills/abilities listed above may be substituted. .
